Sports Minister Justin Madden today announced that public tickets for the 12th FINA World Championships will be go on sale through Ticketek outlets on Monday, October 16 at 9am.
Elite athletes from 175 nations will hit Melbourne, competing for the title as world’s best. Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Synchronised Swimming will be contested in the biggest lead up event to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The Chairman of the 2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation, Mr Tony Beddison AO, said he is expecting a strong response to tickets.
“This is a once in a life time opportunity for people to see the superstars of the aquatics world in action in Melbourne,” Beddison said.
Tickets will be sold via general sale and will not be subject to a ballot system.
From October 16th, tickets can be purchased via the Ticketek website (ticketek.com.au), a dedicated phone line (1300 136 494) and Ticketek retail outlets.
The 12th FINA World Championships will be held from 17 March – 1 April 2007.
